The golden fleece was the skin of the mythical, winged, golden ram Chrysomallos sent by Zeus. This treasure became the destination of the expedition of Hellenic heroes – 52 sailors from Argo, who went for it to Colchis. It was hidden in Ares’s grove and guarded by a dragon. Brave Jazon won it in fight against dragon. Mythology researchers suggest that the whole story is a language misunderstanding, and interpreting this myth as a trip to the ram’s skin incorrect. They explain that in the Black Sea region the first coins had the shape of miniature animal skin. Probably Jazon and his companions went to Colchis for a treasure that was just those coins, not the skin of a magic ram.

This sculpture is entirely hand made, using the lost wax method. Despite the great attention with which our bronze sculptures are made, it is possible that this figure may slightly differ from other such sculptures shown on the pictures. Marble, from which the sculpture base is made, is a natural material. Therefore, we will never find two identical pieces. This makes this item even more unique.
