The replica presented above is a valued noble saber – a karabela, which was widely used among representatives of the Polish upper social class. Its prototype were swords used by Janissaries and Spahis, i.e., Turkish infantry and cavalry units. It served both for combat and as an ornate parade weapon.
Product specifications:
Length: 99 cm
Blade length: 80 cm
Crossguard length: 13.5 cm
Weight: 2 kg
Replicas of this white weapon available in our store have a circularly curved blade, which is smooth on both sides. The noble saber is equipped with a karabela handle, whose pommel is stylized as an eagle’s head. The use of this element was motivated by the hand position while holding the weapon – resting the thumb on the back of the hilt and the little finger on the pommel. This facilitated the execution of extended cuts in cavalry units and arc cuts in infantry units. The hilt of the replica sword is made of wood and fitted with metal rivets, while the crossguard has arms of a characteristic pyramid shape and triangular quillons. The applied decorations recall the Eastern style, and their center is a bird from which semi-circles radiate.
The set includes a wooden scabbard, which is covered with brown leather and decorated with brass fittings. The saber is not sold with a stand – we invite you to purchase it on the dedicated page for displaying our replicas.
